Could you not just warm your butter up on something that would be emitting heat anyway?
Someone should invent a radiator rack with removable butter dish, preferably made out of renewable materials. However, our kitchen radiator has an airing rack with tea towels on it, so what we really need is for someone to invent a combined rack with a rail for tea towels and a tray to hold a removable butter dish.
Or place the butter in a sunny window while you have your coffee? I don't want you to miss out on your lovely butter all winter.
Sunny window? What sunny window?
Problem solved. It turns out that the organic butter from T**co is soft enough to use even in the winter. Hooray!
